ADMM based Distributed State Observer Design under Sparse Sensor Attacks

The Secure State Estimation (SSE) problem deals with the estimation of the system state in the presence of sensor attacks. We consider sparse attacks where the attacker targets a small subset of sensors. This paper proposes a distributed observer for state estimation and sparse attack detection in discrete time Linear Time Invariant (LTI) systems. An algorithm based on Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers (ADMM) is described for the same while formulating the SSE problem as a basis pursuit problem by exploiting the sparse nature of the attack vector.
